Jessica Dermol was born in 1993 as Jessica Gratzer. She received her first piano lessons at the age of 7 at the Feldkirchen Music School under the guidance of Georg Paludnik. During that time, she participated multiple times as an accompanist in the Prima la musica competition and performed as a soloist in the Wendl and Lung competition. Even as a young pianist, she gained extensive experience as a soloist and in various chamber music ensembles.
At the age of 18, she began studying IGP (Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy) with a focus on accompaniment and music theory at the Carinthian State Conservatory under Elisabeth Fheodoroff. During this time, she received the Fiedler Scholarship and won the audition for Yehudi Menuhin’s organization, “Live Music Now” in Carinthia. In June 2017, she completed her education with excellent success. In 2018, she performed the 2nd movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 as part of the project “The Phenomenon of Mozart” with the Euro Symphony SFK conducted by Ernest Hötzl. In 2021, she completed a bachelor’s degree in Music Education and English Teaching. Jessica Dermol worked as a lecturer for piano and music theory at the Carinthian Music Academy Ossiach. She performed with the ensemble Minui at the opening of the Gustav Mahler Private University for Music in 2019. In 2020, she obtained her artistic diploma under Lorenzo Cossi. In February 2023, Jessica Dermol passed the examination for the “Master of Arts” (MA) in Piano at the Gustav Mahler Private University in Klagenfurt under Lorenzo Cossi. Her research master’s thesis on “Competency-Oriented Group Piano Teaching with regard to the Elementary Examination of the Music Schools of Carinthia” is available in the GMPU library.
She performs as a soloist, chamber music partner, and accompanist in numerous concerts and events. She regularly appears in the series “ORF Matinee am Sonntag,” both as a soloist and in chamber music settings. Additionally, she has given several solo and chamber music performances with Promusica Carinthia. She was a finalist in the 2022 Artedea Live Competition for Chamber Music with the ensemble “Another Ravel Quartet.” She also made appearances as well as performed as a pianist in the production “Marlene Dietrich: Engel der Dämmerung” in 2022. Jessica has performed in Austria, Slovenia, France, and Asia. She has been working as a piano teacher and accompanist at the music schools of Carinthia since 2020. During this time, her students have achieved success in concerts, auditions, and competitions such as Prima la musica and the international Bartok Competition in Graz.
